Team Sustainability

Sustainable development is a timely topic with high societal relevance and chemistry plays an essential part in it. JCFs "Team Sustainability" deals with the fundamental question: "What can we as young chemists do to create a more sustainable future and how can we inspire others to act?". The team has already discussed a lot of ideas and initiated projects for the cause and we are always looking for more creative ideas. We welcome new, motivated team members who want to take part in the realization of these ideas. Our current projects include a sustainability guideline, a survey to evaluate the adequacy of sustainability in education and a white paper that represents the opinions of young chemists on the matter in the context of the UN SDGs

From the 23rd to the 26th of March, we participated in the Spring Symposium 2022 in Hannover. Themed "Communicating the Future", we used the symposium not only to meet each other in person for the first time but also to discuss opportunities for more sustainable chemistry with many young chemists and industry representatives. Hannah Kortman presented the Teams work at the Regionalforen Speakers' Meeting. In addition, we had the opportunity to provide participants with insights into entrepreneurship in a workshop on sustainable start-ups organized in cooperation with the JCF Team Start-Up. During the poster session of the symposium, we presented our projects and exchanged new ideas and suggestions with participants. We would like to thank the planning committee, the JCFs Hannover and Göttingen as well as all sponsors and volunteers for organizing a fantastic symposium.
